He has been found guilty of 67 felonies, predominately crimes against women.
Provided he and behaves himself in prison, and that further
advancements in DNA technology don’t link him to other unsolved crime scenes,
we can expect Mr. Mark Rathbun to be a free man after 1136 years plus ten life
terms, or sometime around 3864.

Mark Rathbun nonsexual assault on this date at 3:50 a.m. Victim’s age 74.

Mark Rathbun sexual assault in Los Alamitos on this date at 1:00 a.m. Victim’s age 71 or 72.

Mark Rathbun was subsequently charged with having on this date committed the crime of Forcible Rape against the person of Jane Z. Doe # 9. Los Alamitos Police Cpl. Brent Westwood would testify that the 71-year-old victim was asleep on her stomach in her mobile home when she felt the attacker straddle her back. Rathbun assaulted her in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

Mark Rathbun nonsexual assault this date at 1:30 a.m. in Los Alamitos. Victim’s age 69. Los Alamitos Police Detective Chris Anderson would later testify that when Rathbun climbed on top of the victim she attempted to scream and he said, “Shut up! Shut up! It will be easier on you.” The woman fought hard and bit one of Rathbun’s gloved fingers. The woman described a glove rough with bumpy grips. He then forced her into the bathroom and pushed her to the ground, facedown and took off her pants. “Then, all of a sudden, he was gone.” Rathbun left in the victim's 1987 Honda Accord which was later found in the 4800 block of E. Anaheim Street in Long Beach.

Mark Rathbun was subsequently charged with having on this date committed the crime of Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony against the person of Jane Z. Doe # 10.

Mark Rathbun sexual assault on this date at 2:35 a.m. Victim’s age 60. DNA evidence was found. In this incident Mark Rathbun attacked the 8/10/97 victim a second time. At one point during the assault Rathbun performed oral sex on the victim as she recited the Lord’s Prayer that begins with the words, “Our Father” (and contains the words "deliver us from evil"), but the assault kept going for quite some time before he left.

Mark Rathbun was subsequently charged with having on this date committed the crime of Forcible Oral Copulation and Forcible Rape against the person of Jane Z. Doe # 11.

Mark Rathbun nonsexual assault this ate at 11:33 p.m. in Huntington Beach. Victim’s age 74. After he entered the the victim’s home in the 15300 block of Cambay Avenue, she tried to claw out his eyes, but a rough material described as a towel was protecting his face. "I tried to gouge his eyes and I couldn't do it, so I went like this and I grabbed where it hurts the most. And I didn't let go for quite a little bit.”

Mark Rathbun nonsexual assault on this date at 2:05 a.m. Victim’s age 33. The victim fought the rapist when he sneaked into her rented guesthouse near Burnett Street and Ximeno Avenue in Long Beach. After the attack, she left the city.

Mark Rathbun was subsequently charged with having on this date committed the crime of Assault to Commit a Felony on the person of Jane Z. Doe # 13. Kristin Welding and her sister Lauren Welding may have crossed paths with the rapist when they heard a planter smash in their back yard that surrounded the guesthouse. Kristin armed herself with a kitchen knife and went into the back yard to investigate. When Lauren saw the broken planter she assumed her cat “Cheeto” had tipped it over. Minutes later they heard their neighbor screaming and called the police.

Mark Rathbun had an automobile accident in Long Beach. He was cited by a Long Beach Police officer for driving with a suspended license.

Long Beach Police revealed to the public that a 77-year-old victim of the rapist had been assaulted by him twice in 17 days.

Mark Rathbun worked as a volunteer poll worker on Election Day.

Date of Mark Rathbun’s last assault. a nonsexual assault that took place at 1:00 a.m. The victim was age 36. Police cruisers sped by Rathbun as he fled the scene on a bicycle and a helicopter swooped overhead. It was an alert citizen who told police he saw someone riding the other way on a bicycle. Police tracked down Rathbun and stopped him for riding without a light. He was arrested for possession of a crack pipe and riding a bicycle at dark without a light (charges were not filed).
